The 404 1,028- Where we go Dumpster diving (podcast)

The 404 1,028: Where we go Dumpster diving (podcast)
Richard, our studio engineer, is the inspiration for today's show title that goes along with a story about his old Dumpster-diving days, when he'd raid the Hostess factory at the end of the night to recover "old" Twinkies and Ho Hos.Jeff faced childhood memories of his own this weekend while cleaning out his old closet, unearthing treasures like Palm Pilots, two Sega Dreamcasts, and a box of old CD jewel cases. If you don't know what those things are, you're too young to be listening to The 404.The first story in today's rundown is about yesterday's Easter services and how more churches around the country are embracing the use of tablet computers and smartphones to enrich sermons. Of course, the concept isn't without detractors, but one guy in the Chicago Tribune article actually compares the change to the arrival of the Gutenberg Bible, claiming that the sound of page turning was likely of equal distraction to pastors.More stories leaked from today's episode: Google Maps is under Microsoft fire, Microsoft buys 800 patents from AOL for $1 billion, text message spam and the age of "smishing," and, yes -- Macs can get viruses! This content is rated TV-MA, and is for viewers 18 years or older.
